About Funda Institute
Funda Institute is a modern, customised, community-based institution established to support and uplift disadvantaged communities across South Africa. Founded in 2021, in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the institute was created as a practical solution to expand access to quality education and skills development.
As one of the early institutions to promote blended learning, Funda Institute combines online and in-person training to make education more flexible, affordable, and accessible. This approach was also inspired by the challenges highlighted during the #FeesMustFall movement, which called for more inclusive and accessible higher education opportunities.
Today, Funda Institute focuses on skills development, occupational training, and community empowerment, equipping learners with practical, job-ready competencies that improve employability and support sustainable livelihoods. Its mission is rooted in the belief that education should be accessible, relevant, and transformative, especially for those who need it most.
